Looking towards the future

Looking towards the future: Next steps for growth in 2021

We may barely be a week into the new year, but at GVG we believe that learning from the past is the best way to move towards a brighter, more efficient future. We therefore face 2021 with a positive energy, while we analyze 2020. The past year has undoubtedly been an extremely difficult year for the whole world health-wise, but it has also affected countries’ economies, jobs and many other sectors. All of us have learned how to be resilient in spite of the circumstances, both on a personal and a professional level.

Achievements in an unprecedented environment

Resilience was precisely the word that kept on emerging last year, and the GVG team has demonstrated that with enormous efforts, especially during the last months of the year, it was possible to wrap up 2020 with multiple achievements:

    • Two new contracts: one with the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), and the other with the Lesotho Communications Authority (LCA). These contracts represent fruitful partnerships that will enable us to build solid and durable relationships with both countries, while further strengthening our position as leaders of digital solutions for regulators in Africa.
    • Two important partnerships: one with the company MedUX wich, like GVG, has an innovative approach to quality of service, and the other with the United Nations’ Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data (GPSDD). This collaboration will help promote the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, as well as strengthen the GPSDD and the UN’s Economic Commission for Africa’s (UNECA) capacity building program: COVID-19: Data for a Resilient Africa.

GVG’s first webinar: a digital method of engagement

Not only was GVG’s position consolidated in 2020, but the latter was also a year of firsts. Indeed, GVG hosted the first of what will be many internal webinars, organized with the aim of promoting spaces for dialogue with the main stakeholders and opinion leaders of the sector. This webinar featured exceptional, knowledgeable guests, such as Lacina Koné, DG of Smart Africa, and Patrick Nyirishema, DG of the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA).

We can’t reveal too much as of yet, but we are working on the next webinars and rest assured you will be hooked!

Next steps

As you can see, 2020 was filled with exciting changes for GVG, changes that are going to largely underpin our strategy for 2021. We have proven that the company is both mature and strong enough to endure hardships while continuing to grow. We have also reinforced what was already a reality prior to the pandemic: our intercontinental workspace, which is able to constantly maintain fluid communication between people and teams despite the distance and remote work.

Although it is still too early to know what the new year holds when it comes to the global health situation, we trust that, on a professional level, it brings opportunities, challenges and many new achievements. More than ever, we are confident that, as a digitalized company, we will be able to reach whichever important milestones come our way. And of course, we count on all of you to make it possible.

2021, we are ready for you!
