On behalf of my colleagues at the Global Voice Group, it is my sincere pleasure to have the opportunity to once again take a brief look back at what the company has achieved over the past year. These truly are exciting times at the Global Voice Group (GVG). Please allow me a few moments to highlight what we are doing around the world as leaders in the telecommunications industry. I believe that you will agree with me that GVG is not only a leader in the field, but that by improving the quality of communication, we are improving the quality of lives as well.
Last year I told you that our 2008 monthly volume target was 400 million minutes. Well, I am pleased to tell you that we have already surpassed that goal! We are currently terminating more than 400 million minutes monthly worldwide. Our new goal, set for 2010, is a monthly volume of 600 million minutes, and I believe it is well within reach.
One of the ways we surpassed our monthly minute goal so quickly is through our number of direct connections. In 2006 we had over 23 direct connections, which made us one of Africa’s most developed and reliable networks. Now we have 49 direct connections worldwide.
In Gambia and the Guinea Republic, we are now managing the international gateway traffic. We have increased the revenues of Gambia’s national network, GAMTEL, by 150 percent. We have also increased GAMTEL’s rates, which has greatly increased the stability of the market making it one of the most desirable networks in Africa. In Guinea we have been able to increase the revenues by 300 percent. We have also been able to increase Guinea’s rates.
Last year, NOPIN® our retail long distance product, had become the dominant player among the Haitian community in the U.S. with greater than 15,000 subscribers. Now we have more than 20,000 subscribers, and are continuing to extend this low-cost service to other ethnic communities in the U.S. and around the world.
While GVG continues to be a world leader in the telecommunications industry, we do not forget that our success is measured one subscriber at a time. We are only truly successful when we provide each partner with the best possible service at any cost. As leaders in the telecommunications industry, we are improving the quality of lives as well. If you are not currently connected to our network: please give us a chance, you will not be disappointed.
Sincerely,
Laurent Lamothe
President, CEO
Our History
Global Voice Group S.A. is a licensed telecommunications carrier, founded on January 8, 1998. Our Administrative headquarters are located in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. We are a privately owned company and our main activity is the re-sale of international long distance minutes in the wholesale market. Global Voice has managed to progressively secure contracts with major companies in Africa and the Caribbean by focusing on the ethnic communities in North America, Europe, and Africa in order to capture the communications traffic at its source.
In a changing telecommunications market, Global Voice adopted the strategy of building a network and developing routes with three important criteria in mind: high demand, above average margin, and low competition. Global Voice has consistently built a network that now supports over 400 million minutes with a toll quality.
Since its beginning, Global Voice has partnered, and has legal termination contracts, with major PTT’s throughout the African continent and the Caribbean. These carriers are:
Senegal (Sonatel); Gambia (Gamtel); Cote D’Ivoire (Cote D’Ivorie Telecom); Guinea Bissau (Guinetel); Mali (Sotelma, Ikatel); Republic of Guinea (Sotelgui); Haiti (Haitel, Comcel); Suriname (Telesur); Cameroon (Camtel); Democratic Republic of the Congo (Sogetel); Islamic Republic of Mauritania (Mauritel); Sierra Leone (Sierratel); Togo (Togo Telecom); Uganda (UTL); Liberia; Gabon; Burkina Faso; Tanzania; Uganda; Botswana; South Africa; Domincan Republic (Orange Centenial, Tricom) and Niger.
Today Global Voice has also diversified to tap into the retail long-distance market. In early 2003, Global Voice founded its retail division under the corporate name “One World Telecom.” Branded NOPIN® and Yollamo, One World Telecom’s goal is to become a leading prepaid long-distance provider. One World Telecom is a joint venture between Global Voice and its long-time strategic partner, Business Telecommunications Services (BTS). BTS is one of the largest facilities-based carriers in Florida. NOPIN, true to our commitment is developing a prepaid card system for the Gambian, Senegalese and Guinean Diaspora.
By using the latest switching technology available, investing in custom applications to expand its product portfolio, and developing the best quality in its network, Global Voice has become one of the largest providers of traffic termination into the African continent and the Caribbean. As a result of this strategy, Global Voice’s business has grown significantly over the last seven years, allowing us to pursue new and diverse market opportunities and invest in the best technologies for our partners and us.
