Global Voice Group feels very strongly about the need to bridge the digital divide, particularly in developing countries, and we are championing initiatives that contribute to achieving this goal.
In an effort to help communities in the Republic of Guinea make the transition to Internet, we financed, built and equipped five cybercenters in the districts of Conakry, the capital city of Guinea. These facilities were inaugurated on 18 July 2011, in the presence of our partners in this endeavor: the ministries of Telecommunications and of Youth, the country's Regulatory Authority for Posts and Telecommunications and the mayors of the capital city's different districts.
We provide equipment to different African institutions in order to strengthen their capacity and improve services to communities. In Ghana, for instance, we donated medical equipment to Military Hospital 37 in Accra, a health center that treats both civilians and members of the armed forces.
We sponsor events and associations that contribute to the well-being and development of communities in any number of ways. To foster local talent for example, we have so far sponsored two championships of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation.
In addition to our other charity works, we also contribute to humanitarian efforts aiming to support populations in emergency or disaster situations.
